Learn about the Four Building Blocks of HOPE in Mandarin and Vietnamese<\/h2>\n

Over the summer, two of our high school interns<\/a>, Emily Chen and Alina Ngo, worked on a project to translate HOPE resources into Mandarin and Vietnamese. Their work focused on translating materials related to the Four Building Blocks of HOPE<\/a>, which are the key types of positive childhood experiences<\/a> (PCEs) that children need to thrive. Each Building Block represents key areas that all children need to thrive: safe and supportive relationships that are critical for children to develop into healthy, resilient adults; safe, stable, equitable environments to live, learn, and play; opportunities for social and civic engagement to develop a sense of belonging; and opportunities for emotional growth.<\/p>\n

The first resource is an interactive worksheet that allows families to identify the\u00a0 Building Blocks that they practice and how they access each Building Block.\u00a0This worksheet can help service providers bring forward the positive aspects of a family\u2019s lived experience before bringing up adversities. The second resource goes into detail about each Building Block. The third resource is a poster sharing of the Building Blocks. Providers can print them out and post them in doctor offices, schools, community centers, and even local playgrounds.<\/p>\n

As a part of our commitment to create culturally relevant resources for immigrant families<\/span>, we want HOPE resources to be available in the languages that those in the community speak. Access to resources can help drive equity in care and even in organizational change. These steps to translate resources supports the ability for providers to offer services in multiple languages to reduce barriers for all children and families in the community.<\/p>\n
